October 27, 2026 - CM
Our Santos divided and conquered last weekend due to rain cancelations, schedule conflicts, double bookings, etc.
High Desert Classic - Hosted by the Aardvarks last weekend and a bit smaller than the good ol days. Our Santos competed against the host team and the other Albuquerque team in the Brujo's. All 3 teams also mixed and played combined sides to get more playing time for everyone. My reporter says we won the tourney but not clear on scores, etc. I was unable to attend. Nice work Santos, pulling off of social media pics, looks like Mateo, Allinder, Falkner, Means, Dane, Tadeo, Osborne and a few other Santos attended the event.
MRC Clean Up, Stewardship Day - Volunteers whom use the City fields. Originally scheduled a few weeks ago, it was rained out (we will take the rain). Rescheduled for last weekend, our Santos turned out with the likes of Board Members, Taylor Pomeroy, Diego Cardiel and Dylan Merrigan (son Max). Also, current players, Izzy and Enrique. We are fortunate to have our fields, most ruggers in the State say they are the best unless you are talking to a Techie.. What was it Dave? The Garden Spot.. Many Old Boys worked hard hours to get our fields built, many contributed financially and politically. Some of those efforts have been forgotten by City officials as they have retired, changed jobs, positions, etc. Our fields are about 20 years old and I would say SF Rugby has less pull these days with the City in regards to prioritizing Rugby needs along with other sports being played out there. Events like this, attendance like this obviously helps our mission. Thank you all that attended. I will make a point to attend next year and hopefully you will join us, ensuring our good standing with the City. It took a lot of work from many of us... let's not lose it..
Note: The City did mention that our rugby pitches are the Best Kept fields in the entire Marty Sanchez Recreational Complex. Nice work everyone, keep it up.
Referee Clinic - Albuquerque last weekend. Our very own Match Secretary, Jeremy Lithgow attended. Thank you, Jeremy. It is obvious we need more referees, never enough in my opinion. It makes you a better player as well.. (I mean, I wouldn't know but that's what I heard).
Remaining Schedule:
Atomic 10's - Albq Nov. 7th
El Paso AWAY - Nov 14th
